Ange Postecoglou will still have found key areas to work on despite Tottenham grabbing a convincing 4-1 win over West Ham United on Saturday (19 October).

Spurs were forced to come from behind after Mohammed Kudus’ opener flew past Guglielmo Vicario, with Dejan Kulusevski netting the equaliser later in the first half.

Of course, three points at home were the most important part of the clash in North London, but Postecoglou may be slightly frustrated with his team’s lack of clinical edge from corners.

Taking to X on Saturday (19 October), The Athletic’s reporter Jay Harris wrote: “Tottenham had 12 corners against West Ham which is more than any other team in the first half of a Premier League game this season.

“The biggest concern is that they did not look threatening from any of them.”

Harris certainly brings up an interesting point. While Spurs were able to make their chances count in the second half and ultimately seal the win, they could make these matches far more comfortable by scoring more set-pieces.

Cristian Romero is often known for his ability in the final third, boasting seven goals across 107 appearances for the Lilywhites, even scoring in the 4-0 win over Everton, but it could be more.

The Argentine only has a 44 per cent shot accuracy this season, but with four shots on target, that just proves how many efforts are sent flying off target from set-pieces [FotMob].

He managed to rack up five goals in the Premier League last season, with a slightly better shot accuracy of 50 per cent, so a similar showing this term could have a massive impact for Spurs.

Given the centre-back ranks in the top 92 percentile for non-penalty goals and the top 91 percentile for total shots, he has proven his ability to threaten from these kinds of situations [FBref].

However, with just one league goal to his name since April, Romero still has one aspect of his game that can improve and push Tottenham to more victories.
