View: Ange has new rising star on his hands after Tottenham teen's hat-trick today

Ange Postecoglou will certainly be keeping a close eye on Tottenham youngster Yusuf Akhamrich following his performance on Friday.

The 19-year-old winger was at the very centre of a convincing victory for Spurs Under-21s as Wayne Burnett’s side recorded their biggest win of the season so far.

He had one goal and two assists in all competitions before coming up against Middlesbrough on 29 November, going on to add a hat-trick to his name in a 6-1 thrashing.

Akhamrich opened the scoring after just five minutes, sandwiching goals from Oliver Irow and Callum Olusesi before the half-time break and already notching a brace.

With 10 minutes remaining, and Spurs five goals up after Damola Ajayi got in on the action, the winger hit the back of the net to take home the match ball, though Boro’s late consolation goal would have been a slight disappointment.

Tottenham to promote Yusuf Akhamrich after Under-21s display?

Postecoglou has shown quite clearly that there is a path from the academy to the first team, with the likes of Mikey Moore, Will Lankshear, Maeson King and Olusesi being called up this season.

When it comes to attackers, the manager already has a plethora of options to choose from but given the number of competitions the team are competing in this term, there could be a chance for the youngster.

Being included in the first-team set-up could also do wonders for his development, learning from Son Heung-min, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner.

Akhamrich’s ability to play anywhere down the left flank, as well as on the opposite flank, gives him a special advantage over his teammates also fighting for a senior call-up, and Postecoglou will surely be taking notice.

It would be almost impossible to not take a look at the young winger and he will certainly be a name to keep an eye on as the season trundles on.
