Everton midfielder Orel Mangala was a standout performer for Belgium despite their 1-0 defeat to Israel on Sunday evening.
With several injuries and dropouts, Belgium had a significantly weakened side for the 1-0 loss on 17 November, although Mangala certainly played his part in attempting to prevent that.
The Toffees man played the full 90 minutes for Belgium, who have now failed to win in any of their previous seven away outings.
His performance will only do him the world of good for the prospect of a permanent move to Goodison Park.
Orel Mangala impresses away from Everton
As a whole, it was a pretty dismal display from Belgium with Mangala the only player coming away from their encounter with any additional credit in the bag.
According to FotMob, the midfielder recorded a remarkable 98 per cent pass accuracy from 62 attempted passes. Essentially, Mangala misplaced just one pass throughout the entire game.
The Belgian had 73 touches in the game, and with 62 of those being attempted passes, it demonstrates his ability as someone who excels at moving the ball quickly – something that has been missing for Everton in the games he hasn’t been involved in.
His 63 per cent win rate in defensive duels showcases his willingness to do the dirty work, although you could argue there is a small room for improvement on that front.
Five of the eight ground duels resulted in Mangala winning the ball from his opponent.
The Toffees midfielder also recorded 11 defensive recoveries, essentially meaning that Mangala was quick to get back into position in an attempt to nullify any attacking threat from the opposition.
Ultimately, his performance could force Dyche into a decision when Everton host Brentford on Saturday, (23 November).
In other Everton news, Lee Dixon was frustrated with Jordan Pickford in the first half of England’s encounter with Ireland on Sunday.
