Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite’s chances of going to the EUROs have dramatically increased after David Ornstein’s update on Thursday, 6 June.

The 21-year-old, who’s yet to start a game for the Three Lions, now appears to be on course to be named in the 26-man squad.

That’s because the Athletic’s Ornstein has reported that both Jack Grealish and Harry Maguire will not make the cut.

Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite now expected to make the cut

From the 33-man squad, the likes of James Maddison, Curtis Jones and James Trafford will be missing out while Jarrel Quansah is also expected to be omitted.

This means that just one more player is likely to make way and that could be another attacker, which will most possibly be Ivan Toney.

Without Branthwaite, the Three Lions will have just three recognised centre-backs in John Stones, Lewis Dunk and Marc Guehi with Ezri Konsa expected to offer cover at full-back.

The 21-year-old’s inclusion in the England squad is well-deserved.

He has shown remarkable consistency and maturity, excelling in a struggling Toffees side.

His aerial prowess, defensive reading, and recovery pace make him a versatile asset.

Branthwaite’s performances have caught the eye of Gareth Southgate, earning him a call-up to the senior squad.
