Iliman Ndiaye may be forced to step up and become the main creator for Everton over their next few games after a potential injury to Dwight McNeil against Fulham.

The Englishman was forced off the pitch towards the end of their 1-1 Premier League draw against the Cottagers at Goodison Park on Saturday (26 October) and was seen shaking his head towards his manager when asked if he could carry on.

While Sean Dyche may be hopeful that the former Burnley man’s injury won’t be too serious, the fact he was forced off the pitch tells another story.

The Toffees have plenty of options within their ranks to fill in for the 24-year-old but nobody aside from Ndiaye has the same sort of attacking qualities that McNeil brings to the table.

Hence why, the next few games of the Senegal international’s Everton career could be some of the most important of his stint to date.

Everton need Iliman Ndiaye to step up

The attacker was brought in over the summer for a fee worth around £15.6million [David Anderson, 3 July] and he has arguably been Everton’s best addition of the lot.

The Senegal international’s natural position is that of an attacking midfielder but this season Dyche has chosen to deploy him on the flank and so far, it’s worked out.

As McNeil could potentially be sidelined for an extended period, Ndiaye will be the Toffees’ main attacking threat with Dyche likely to look towards him to inspire his teammates.

Everton’s next clash is against fellow relegation battlers Southampton and on paper, it looks to be a game that the Toffees should get all three points from.

The fact Ndiaye has bagged three goals already this season shows the impact he’s had on the side and it also outlines how ready he is to lead the Toffees’ attack.

Only time will tell whether he lives up to expectations but realistically, it’s hard to see how he won’t impress and perhaps carry the club to victory and earn Everton their third Premier League win of the season.

In other Everton news, Sean Dyche has shared what Dominic Calvert-Lewin is still getting used to at Goodison Park.
