Will Everton manage to lure Hull City winger Jaden Philogene to Goodison Park?

The future of Philogene seems to be the talk of the town with several Premier League clubs, including the Toffees, chasing his signature.

It is no surprise that the 22-year-old is a man in demand. In just 32 Championship appearances for Hull last season, the England youth international scored 12 goals and provided six assists.

As reported by The Athletic (10 July), Aston Villa, Ipswich Town, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Everton have all been credited with an interest in Philogene.

That is some list, and it appears as though the player has his pick of a fine selection of top-flight clubs.

Furthermore, it looks as though his transfer is viewed as inevitable with his current club clearly resigned to losing him.

That is because, as per the Hull Daily Mail’s Baz Cooper via X (10 July), Philogene has been left behind as the Tigers jet off for pre-season preparations in Istanbul.

This therefore implies that he has been left behind to resolve his future, which right now remains very much up in the air.

Will Everton sign Jaden Philogene from Hull City?

Winning the race for Philogene’s signature won’t be easy with the Toffees trying to operate in what is a very crowded market.

As reported by Sky Sports News via their transfer centre (2:11 pm, 10 July), both Everton and Ipswich have reached £18million agreements in principle for Philogene.

However, Villa have utilised their matching rights clause to match the agreements of both Ipswich and Everton.

As a result, it looks as though this decision is going to lie with Philogene himself.

And that could spell trouble for the Toffees. Villa can offer their former player UEFA Champions League football, while Ipswich are likely to provide Philogene with the most first-team minutes.

And if Crystal Palace and West Ham decide to step up their interest, those two clubs are likely to be fighting higher up the table than the Toffees next season.

That leaves Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell with the task of persuading Philogene that Goodison Park is the place for him.

They need to present a proposal to the player which will attract him to the club, and that could prove difficult considering what the other clubs involved can offer.

However, it looks as though Philogene’s move to the Premier League is inevitable, and Everton will no doubt be ready to fight until the very end to convince the player to join them.
