Everton expect PL club to make new bid for player in next 4 days - report

Manchester United are preparing to make a third bid for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite this week, according to HITC.

Writing on their website (10 July), the report shared that the Red Devils are expected to submit their latest offer to Everton for Branthwaite in the next four days.

The Blues rejected a bid worth £50million on Monday (9 July) [The Guardian] after their initial approach of £35m was rejected in June.

Branthwaite has agreed on personal terms with Manchester United ahead of a potential deal.

Everton to stand firm on Jarrad Branthwaite

Everton are standing firm on their valuation of Branthwaite and believe Man United are trying to unsettle the player. They value the centre-back at £80m and will not sell for anything less.

The club believe that it is a fair price for Branthwaite and cite Wesley Fofana’s move to Chelsea and Josko Gvardiol’s move to Manchester City as the benchmark.

Branthwaite is said to share the club’s opinion on the deal and won’t force a move despite his desire to leave for Manchester.

Man United tried to take advantage of Everton’s financial situation, with the club needing to sell before the Profit and Sustainability rule deadline 30 June, but the Blues no longer need to do so.

For context, Newcastle United sold Elliott Anderson to Nottingham Forest for the same price as Man United’s first bid.

Everton are right to hold on for an offer they deem worthy for their star centre-back and they know he is their number one target.

The Red Devils have had a bid accepted for Lille centre-back Leny Yoro (Daily Mail, 9 July), but with the 18-year-old holding out for Real Madrid, it seems a cheap tactic to get Everton to lower their asking price.

A move across the M62 makes little sense. Branthwaite was a standout performer in the Premier League last season and could attract the likes of Real Madrid after another year on Merseyside.

And another year at Everton could be Branthwaite’s short-term future if Man United keep haggling on a price they’ve known for months.

In other Everton news, Everton want to sign Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana ahead of West Ham United.
