Everton must extend the contract of Dominic Calvert-Lewin as soon as possible after his performance against Ipswich on Saturday (19 October).

The Toffees beat the Tractor Boys 2-0 at Portman Road and continued their positive run in the Premier League under Sean Dyche.

Michael Keane’s goal stole most of the plaudits after he smashed the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle to seal all three points.

Calvert-Lewin may not have had a direct impact on the score of the game but he was everywhere for the Toffees, making himself a menace in the final third.

The Toffees have already entered talks with the 27-year-old but with teams such as Juventus showing an interest [Corriere dello Sport, 17 October, page 7], they may have to step things up a gear.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin needs to extend his Goodison Park stay

Calvert-Lewin was described as “fantastic” by BBC journalist Chris Wise (20 October) after his performance against Kieran McKenna’s men as he once again proved why Dyche continues to start him.

The striker may not have chipped in with a goal or an assist in the clash but his impact was certainly felt.

His movement on and off the ball was top-notch, and the longer that continues, the goal involvements will start to flow naturally in his game.

Armando Broja is set to be integrated into the squad shortly after his deadline day arrival with many fans speculating that the Albania international could replace the Englishman as the Toffees’ focal point.

Realistically, however, Broja will likely be second in command at first with Everton wanting to prove to Calvert-Lewin why they’re the best option for his future.
