Everton are one of the few Premier League teams that the summer transfer window has actually had a positive effect on.

The Toffees have been one of England’s busiest teams since the window opened as they look to improve their top-flight standing in the upcoming season.

Sean Dyche’s men have been narrowly surviving and retaining their Premier League status over the last few seasons but are now looking to solidify their status and perhaps even break into the top half of the table.

Although a plethora of attacking talent has already been added to the club’s ranks, Dyche could well still be on the lookout for a new number nine.

In recent weeks, Salernitana ace Boulaye Dia has been linked with a move to Merseyside, with Everton being one of the many teams interested in acquiring his services [Corriere Dello Sport, August 5 page 37].

According to a fresh report from Italian outlet Tutto Salernitana [7 August], it has been claimed that Dia “dreams” of a move to the Premier League and that a switch to England’s top flight would be his “first choice”.

Everton should step up their chase for Boulaye Dia

Everton’s strikeforce has been somewhat lacking since Richarlison exited the club for Tottenham Hotspur.

The Toffees brought in Beto from Udinese last summer to try and alleviate some pressure from the shoulders of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but the addition of the Portugal international did anything but help.

The lack of goalscoring from their strikers was one of the key reasons behind the club’s 15th-placed finish last term.

That is why the likes of Jesper Lindstrom and Iliman Ndiaye have been added to Sean Dyche’s ranks.

Although the arrivals of the aforementioned two will no doubt benefit the club’s attacking prowess, Dia is an out-and-out number nine and would likely benefit the team differently.

Not only is he clinical but he also possesses lightning-quick speed alongside strong on-the-ball gameplay.

Whilst Dia’s name might not be one many fans have heard of, should Beto or Calvert-Lewin exit Goodison Park this summer, the club wouldn’t go too far wrong by bringing the Senegal international in.

In other Everton news, the Toffees will be outraged by a £40million PSR revelation on talkSPORT.
