View: Robert Vilahamn receives boost as Tottenham Women star pens new contract

Robert Vilahamn will be delighted after a recent decision made by Tottenham Women midfielder Drew Spence.

Vilahamn will be keen to kick on with Spurs during the 2024/25 campaign.

The Swede guided the club to an Adobe Women’s FA Cup final and sixth-placed finish in the Barclays Women’s Super League last season.

A big part of the club’s success was the performances of Spence in midfield toward the end of the season.

Therefore, her decision to sign a new contract with the club will come as a huge boost to Vilahamn.

As per the club’s official website (19 July), Spence has signed a contract with Tottenham which runs until June 2026.

Spence missed four months of action after picking up an injury in November.

However, it didn’t take her long to settle back in, with Spurs losing just one of their final seven league matches.

Spence registered two goals and three assists in her nine league appearances across the 2023/24 season. In addition, she managed 1.8 shots, 1.3 key passes and 0.4 dribbles per 90 minutes of WSL action (WhoScored).

Her passing was also impressive, with the 31-year-old averaging 30.4 passes and an accuracy of 83.3 per cent per match.

Finally, she chipped in defensively, managing 1.0 tackles and 0.5 interceptions per 90 minutes.

As one of the older players in the dressing room, Spence’s experience will no doubt prove crucial once again next season, and everybody connected with the club is likely to be delighted that she is staying put.
