Tottenham Women have signed Maite Oroz from Real Madrid Women.
It was announced via the club’s official website on Friday (13 September) that Oroz has joined Spurs.
This represents a huge boost for Robert Vilahamn ahead of the brand-new Barclays Women’s Super League campaign getting underway.
Oroz is a highly experienced player both at club and international level. The 26-year-old scored five goals in 24 Liga F appearances last season as Real Madrid finished second in the table, while she also featured regularly in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Overall, she made 146 appearances for Las Blancas, the second-highest in the team’s history, and spent time as the club’s co-captain.
In addition, she has played 15 times for Spain Women. During that time she has scored four goals and was part of the side that won the UEFA Women’s Nations League this year.

Oroz has penned a four-year contract in North London.
As a result, Vilahamn will be delighted with this bit of business. Oroz will now look to compete with the likes of Eveliina Summanen, Drew Spence and Olga Ahtinen for a place in midfield.
However, whether she is starting every week or not, just having a player of Oroz’s experience around the changing room will be useful in helping the club to push forward on the pitch.
In other Tottenham news, an ex-FIFA official has claimed Arsenal’s goal against the club shouldn’t have stood.
