Craig Moore does not think Kevin Muscat will be joining Rangers after being previously snubbed for the job.
He believes that the Australian was disappointed after not getting the job despite interviewing for it.
The club hierarchy instead decided to go for Philippe Clement who appears to be fighting to keep his job at Ibrox.
Moore said, as quoted by the Daily Record on 27 November: “At this moment in time he has just finished a Champions League game, they won 3-1 , so they have still got games and focus. I don’t think that phone call is going to happen.
“The reality is Kevin Muscat was extremely keen on the job when he interviewed for the job twice before Philippe Clement got the job. There has been no conversations ongoing, even during this period.
“I think anyone who interviews for a job and doesn’t get it is disappointed. He was disappointed, because he believed he could close the gap and change things. That opportunity wasn’t available to Kevin and it was available to Philippe.”
Rangers make huge mistake in snubbing Kevin Muscat
Gers erred in choosing Clement over Muscat as manager as the latter showcased an understanding of the club’s expectations and culture.
His disappointment in not securing the position suggests a personal investment in wanting to succeed at Rangers.
The Australian’s track record in winning titles across different continents demonstrates his ability to adapt and succeed in various football environments, which could have been beneficial for Gers’ ambitions.
He even won the award for the A-League Coach of the Year back in 2015 so it’s clear he’s doing something right.
Clement, while experienced in Europe, has faced mounting pressure at Ibrox, with the team struggling to compete for the Premiership title, falling significantly behind Celtic.
The ship now seems to have sailed and Gers need to look in another direction to replace the Belgian.
In other Rangers news, sources have issued an update on the club’s quest to sign a striker liekened to Harry Kane.
