Wenham expects senior Tottenham player to be sold amid 'Strange' BBC Sport transfer update

John Wenham still expects Tottenham defender Emerson Royal to complete a move to AC Milan.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes a fee will eventually be agreed upon between the clubs.

As reported by BBC Sport (16 July), Spurs rejected an opening offer of £8.4million for Emerson from Milan.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – cannot understand why the bid was so low.

“I still do think that move will eventually happen,” Wenham said.

“However, these offers from Milan are a bit strange. That first bid was so low considering how much Tottenham wanted initially.

“There is clearly still a huge way to go in negotiations, but I do think he will complete that transfer.

“The fact that he is willing to go makes it much easier for Tottenham. It is just about agreeing on a fee now, which I am sure will happen eventually.”

There will still be hope from all parties involved that an agreement can be reached over a transfer.

Milan will want the player signed, and will therefore know that they need to increase their offer.

Meanwhile, Spurs are clearly willing to let Emerson leave the club, especially now that they have signed Archie Gray, who can play as a right-back.

As for the player himself, he is keen on the move (via Fabrizio Romano, 2 July).

Therefore, there is no reason why a deal won’t be agreed, it just might take some time and painful negotiating.
