Wenham reacts as Arsenal look to hijack Tottenham deal for West Ham gem

John Wenham is hopeful that Tottenham can win the race for West Ham United gem Kyran Thompson.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose would welcome the youngster in North London.

As reported by The Secret Scout via X (19 July), Thompson looked set to sign for Tottenham.

However, The Secret Scout has provided an update via X (24 July), reporting that Arsenal and Newcastle United have made late moves for Thompson, with a decision expected soon.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has emphasised how big it would be if Spurs could hold off late moves to win the race for the player’s signature.

“Thompson is a highly-rated young prospect,” Wenham said.

“It looks as though all the big clubs in the Premier League want to sign him. Therefore, if Tottenham can win the race for his signature, that would be huge.

“He would be welcomed at the club. Spurs should always be striving to sign the best young talent around. Thompson is a pacey winger who can also play in the number 10 position.

“Taking one of West Ham’s best young players would be a positive feeling for Tottenham, I am sure.”

Spurs beating Arsenal to the signing of one of West Ham’s most talented young players likely sounds too good to be true.

However, with Thompson having already seemingly agreed to join Spurs, supporters will hope that the young player keeps to his word.

Newcastle might struggle to convince the player and his family to move from London at such a young age. As a result, it looks as if this race is between Arsenal and Spurs.

While he is a very young player, and likely won’t be at the forefront of many fans’ minds, it would still be a nice boost to beat the Gunners to a signing, no matter what age the player is.

Therefore, fans will hope that Thompson chooses the white side of North London.
