What Cyriel Dessers had to say about a possible transfer exit from Rangers

Super Eagles and Rangers forward, Cyriel Kolawole Dessers, has debunked rumours about his possible exit from the club, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 29-year-old centre-forward joined the Glasgow-based club from Cremonese last summer on a four-year deal. Despite having success as regards his personal goals, the former Feyenoord man had a hard time with the Rangers fans.

He scored 22 goals and provided nine assists in 54 games, but the fans wanted more from the Super Eagles striker. Dessers was linked with a move to Greek Champions – PAOK Thessaloniki, but the reports have blown cold in recent weeks.

The former Club Brugge man has his gaze fixed on having a better season with Rangers as a new campaign beckons, shutting the door on all transfer talks.

“Every summer is a big summer at this club. That’s not a real surprise. Obviously, I’m really happy at this club. I’ve said before, when I signed I was hoping to stay for a couple of years, to win some trophies. I’ve won one but I want the biggest one and that’s to win the league. For me, there’s been a lot of writing and talking. Sometimes I come into the building and it’s like, ‘Oh you’re still here!’ I don’t have a lot of ideas about what is happening, but I don’t read too many things. When they call me, it will probably be serious, but I haven’t had a call yet,” the former Cremonese forward said in quotes revealed by Football Scotland.

Beyond the club, the Super Eagles consider the scenic atmosphere in the country to be a breath of fresh air, calling it home.

“Definitely, Scotland is home, and not just for me, but for my fiancé as well. We feel at home in Glasgow, we feel good. We’re happy to be here and hopefully, I can be here for some years and more importantly, win some trophies here,” the former Genk man concluded.

Dessers scored a brace in Rangers’ 4-4 draw against German Bundesliga side, Union Berlin, when both sides met in a pre-season friendly.
