'What would worry me?' - David Martindale speaks out after what he has seen at Rangers

David Martindale feels there’s nothing to worry about when facing Rangers after their 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership.

Killie hosted the Light Blues at Rugby Park on 20 October, and an 87th-minute goal from Marley Watkins handed the hosts all three points.

It marked the Bears’ second loss in the league this season, and speaking on the Open Goal podcast [22 October], Livingstone manager Martindale has seen nothing from Philippe Clement’s team so far.

“I’m just looking at it from a coaches’ point of view coaching against Rangers this year. What would worry me? I’m not sure the worry is there,” he said.

“I’m looking at Rangers, everything is in front of you.”

David Martindale right about Rangers

Rangers have looked toothless under Clement in the current campaign, with the Light Blues struggling to find the back of the net.

The Bears’ highest goal-scorer this season is Cyriel Dessers, with seven goals in 14 appearances in all competitions, but the 29-year-old often looks uninterested on the pitch.

Tom Lawrence and Vaclav Cerny are the other two attacking threats in the ream, but their goal return is underwhelming at the moment.

Apart from Gers’ attacking woes, the defensive side has been better, but you cannot rely on that when things in the final third aren’t clicking.

Clement did a decent job in the dugout after taking over from Michael Beale in the previous campaign, but the Belgian has failed to make any progress this term.

It feels like the team has regressed after a summer packed with change, and the 50-year-old needs to turn the tide at the club, with questions being raised about his future.
