£27m Greenwood bid received by Man Utd as update emerges on Everton star Branthwaite - report

Manchester United will likely need funds from the Mason Greenwood sale to sign Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, according to Chris Wheeler.

The Daily Mail journalist reported on 8 July that Marseille tabled a £27million bid for the English attacker, who’s expected to leave Old Trafford this summer.

The Red Devils then tabled a second bid for the 22-year-old England international, which was an initial £45million plus £5million in add-ons. [Chris Wheeler]

Via Twitter, Wheeler wrote: “Now confirmed that Marseille’s offer for Mason Greenwood is £27m. Utd likely to need the money from Greenwood deal to buy Branthwaite.”

Everton in a comfortable negotiating position for Jarrad Branthwaite

The Toffees are in a strong position to negotiate the sale of Branthwaite due to Manchester United’s financial constraints.

The Red Devils’ ability to meet the valuation of around £70million for the defender hinges on their success in offloading Mason Greenwood and potentially other players.

United’s second bid of £45million plus £5million in add-ons for Branthwaite falls significantly short of the Merseyside club’s asking price.

If United cannot generate the necessary funds from player sales, they may be forced to abandon their pursuit of Branthwaite.

This would be a favourable outcome for Everton and Sean Dyche as it would allow them to retain a promising young talent who has been a key part of their defence.

The club’s firm stance on Branthwaite’s valuation reflects their confidence in the player’s potential and their determination to secure a substantial fee for his transfer.

This puts them in a strong negotiating position, as they can afford to wait for a more suitable offer or retain Branthwaite if their valuation is not met.

In other Everton news, the club have submitted an offer to sign an international striker after the announcement of Iliman Ndiaye.
