Attacker 'Keen' on Everton transfer, negotiations already underway - Fabrizio Romano

Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto is “keen” on a move to Everton during the summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer specialist reported via X on Monday (15 July) that the Toffees do hold a genuine interest in securing the Italian winger’s signature this summer and have already held recent talks with his representatives.

Negotiations are understood to be taking place so that the parties can understand the conditions of any potential deal, but on a personal note, Gnonto would be interested in making the move to Goodison Park.

Links between Everton and Gnonto have now been going on for more than a year, but this summer it does feel different. Maybe this time, Sean Dyche will get his man and tempt the Italian international away from Elland Road.

The Toffees clearly need reinforcements out wide this summer as the only options available to the Blues boss are Jack Harrison and Dwight McNeil following the departures of Arnaut Danjuma and Lewis Dobbin in recent weeks.

Gnonto has shown in the past that he can be a real threat in the Premier League. Although he didn’t set the Championship alight last term, he has the quality to make the step up to the top flight and impress in an Everton shirt.

Whether or not Leeds will be willing to allow him to leave remains to be seen. But if the winger is as keen on a move to Merseyside as has been reported, that could help the Blues negotiate a reasonable fee for his services.

With money set to arrive at Goodison for the signature of Amadou Onana, Everton may be able to get this deal done sooner rather than later.
