Axel Disasi ridicules Pedro Neto in five-word rebuke over Chelsea failure

Axel Disasi has aimed a dig at his Chelsea teammate Pedro Neto after their victory over Astana in the Europa Conference League.

Enzo Maresca’s side made the long trip to Kazakhstan for that game on Thursday (12 December), where a goal from Marc Guiu – assisted by Neto – an own goal, and Renato Veiga’s third secured a 3-1 win for the Blues.

Neto was then substituted at half-time, while Disasi played the full 90 minutes as the Premier League club secured automatic qualification for the competition’s last 16.

It was a game played in sub-zero temparatures in the Kazakh winter, and after Neto took to Instagram to reflect on that with a loveheart and chilled emoji, his fellow Chelsea man was quick to respond.

Commenting on the winger’s post, Disasi pointed out the lack of reward he had got in front of goal for his long trip, by brutally writing: “8 hours fly, no goal” along with face palm and laughing emojis.

It has not been the most prolific start to life at Stamford Bridge for Neto since he made the move from Wolves in the summer.

He has scored just three goals in 18 games for the Blues, and he will no doubt want to add a few more to his record for Maresca’s side, although his equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal on 10 November was a highlight.

This clash against an Astana side who looked there for the taking in the first-half in particular, may have been an opportunity for Neto to improve his numbers for Chelsea.

So while Disasi meant this comment as something of a joke, which wasn’t the only one in the camp post-match, there may be a frustration for the winger that he did not get on the scoresheet here.

Despite that he was still able to make a contribution and demonstrate his creative abilities with the assist for Guiu, while also creating the own-goal which was initially also credited to the Spanish striker.

Given he is now set to be suspended when Chelsea face Brentford at the weekend, Neto may also be disappointed he cannot build on that, potentially with a goal of his own next time round.

In other news, Chelsea fans expect a senior player to leave Stamford Bridge before the start of next season.
