Big-name player exits expected at Rangers with more transfer dominos to fall - journalist

Journalist Graeme Young has suggested that there will be more key player departures from Rangers this summer that will lead to additional signings.

The Gers have already made five new signings, with Hamza Igamane being the latest to come through the doors at Ibrox.

In a column for the Daily Record (6 July, pg 61) Young has pointed towards further signings throughout the transfer window but not until some stars leave the club.

He said: “There is work to do. It’s clear this is the bulking out of the squad phase and more dominos will fall when big-name exits take place.

“There’s belief Hamza Igamane will prove to be an under-the-radar gem.”

Hamza Igamane signs for Rangers

Philippe Clement knows that the Rangers squad needs to be improved this summer if they are to catch up with Celtic next campaign.

After losing out in the Scottish Premiership and then the Scottish Cup, the Gers ultimately fell short despite an initial spirited revival when the Belgian replaced Michael Beale.

This has already seen the likes of Connor Barron and Liam Kelly come in on free transfers to add some additional depth to the Light Blues’ squad.

Rangers have also completed the permanent deal of Mohamed Diomande who should only get better in his second season in Scottish football.

Igamane looks likely to be an exciting signing after his completing a move from FAR Rabat on Friday (5 July), albeit there is an element of the unknown about the 21-year-old.

The Moroccan will provide depth in forward areas and may have a say as Cyriel Dessers weighs up his transfer options at Ibrox.

It is clear that Clement wants to shape his squad early on in the transfer window and so far the Belgian is doing well.

In other Rangers news, a British defender has impressed scouts as Gers look to beat Celtic to a new transfer this summer.
