Bristol City ace sends 7-word message after Rangers confirm player exit

Bristol City defender Ross McCrorie has sent a message to twin Robby McCrorie following his move to Kilmarnock from Rangers.

Brother Ross took to his Instagram account [10 July] to congratulate Robbie on his move to Kilmarnock on a two-year deal.

The transfer was confirmed by Rangers earlier in the day, ending weeks of speculation.

He said: “Love that big man!! Let’s go brother.”

The brothers came through the youth system together at Rangers.

McCrorie made only one appearance for the Gers last season and leaves after a nine-year stint at the club.

Rangers hoped to keep Robby McCrorie

Rangers losing McCrorie to Kilmarnock will hardly come as a blow to manager Philippe Clement.

The club had offered him a contract extension but it was turned down with the goalkeeper leaving for first-team football (Daily Record, 4 June).

He made only five appearances for the club and left the Rangers training camp in Netherlands to seal a move to Rugby Park.

The signing of former youth teammate Liam Kelly further hampered his first-team prospects (Sky Sports, 5 July).

Jack Butland has established himself as the undisputed number one goalkeeper at the club and Kelly would have pushed him further down the pecking order.

A move is beneficial for both parties, with McCrorie unlikely to feature for the Light Blues next season and the club avoiding losing him on a free at the end of his contract.

The 26-year-old has represented Scotland at every age group from the U15s to the U21s.

He could now play Europa League football with Kilmarnock next season following their fourth-place finish in the Scottish Premiership last season.

This is the perfect opportunity for McCrorie to kick-on with his career and he certainly has his brother’s approval.

In other Rangers news, the Light Blues want a certain striker during the transfer window after an update emerged from his club.
