'Certainly' - Journalist moots exit of Rangers player as transfer news emerges in last 24 hours

Jonny McFarlane admits that Ianis Hagi’s recent comments are not those made by a player who wants to stay at Rangers.

The 25-year-old was on loan for the 2023/24 season at Alaves and now appears to have gone on the record iterating his desire to leave Gers.

He said that while his focus was on Euro 2024 and the Romania national team, he has told his agents to find a new club for him, via the Scottish Sun on 6 June.

McFarlane, a journalist at Rangers Review reacted to these comments on Twitter and said: “Certainly not the comments of a guy intent on remaining at Rangers.”

Hagi’s recent comments strongly suggest that he is looking to leave Gers for good.

He has explicitly stated that he has instructed his agents to find him a new club, indicating a clear desire to move on from Ibrox.

Given these circumstances, it is safe to assume that Hagi has played his last game at Ibrox.

His comments do not really sound like he’s keen on fighting for his place in the team and would prefer a fresh start elsewhere.

Moreover, Hagi’s fitness record and performances in Spain, where he struggled to make an impact during his loan spell at Alaves, suggest that he may not be at the level required to succeed at Gers.

As such, it is likely that fans will not be too disappointed to see him leave, especially if the club can reinvest the funds from his sale into strengthening the squad.
