Chelsea are open to letting Mykhailo Mudryk leave the club in January as Enzo Maresca has not been impressed by his performances so far.
This is according to former Man United, Tottenham and West Ham scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Chelsea are keen to cut their wage bill in the coming transfer windows.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 19 November that multiple Premier League clubs are monitoring the winger ahead of the January transfer window.
However, Brown went on to explain that the interest in his signature could force the Blues to accept cut-price offers if they wish to move him on, as clubs will not pay over the odds for him.
The 23-year-old Ukraine international arrived in West London in a deal worth up to £88.5million in January 2023, but have yet to see any significant return on their investment.
Mudryk is also on a long-term contract, with over six and a half years left on his current £100,000 per-week deal after Chelsea exercised their option to extend his spell in April.
As a result, it has been said that an offer worth £30million could be enough to get a deal over the line, while a potential loan exit is also on the cards.
Chelsea plan to accept Mykhailo Mudryk offers in January
Football Insider revealed on 21 November that Maresca is expected to hand Mudryk the chance to play for his future over the busy festive period.
Now, Brown, who has a wealth of experience working closely with players and in player recruitment at the top level after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted the Blues will entertain offers in January.
“I hear they’re keen to move him on in January,” he told Football Insider.
“I think they’ve got the makings of a very good team at Chelsea, but he isn’t likely to be a part of that.
“There isn’t space for him in the team at the moment and I don’t think Maresca has been particularly impressed by him so far.
“But I don’t think they’re likely to make a profit on him or even get their money back, let’s put it that way.
“He’s on a big contract too, which they’d like to get off the books if they can.
“That’s the problem they’ve got themselves into, though. Which clubs will be willing to pay his wages and spend a big chunk of money on signing him?
“I think, if clubs do make a move for him, they’ll probably look to pay around £30million at most.
“So Chelsea might have to bite the bullet and accept that if they really want to move him on. They’ll have to cut their losses.“
