Chris Jack shares Diomande injury update after Rangers pre-season clash v Standard Liege

Rangers midfielder Mohamed Diomande seems “fine” and has returned to training despite fears he’d picked up an injury, according to Chris Jack.

The 22-year-old played the first half of the Light Blues’ pre-season clash with Standard Liege on Wednesday (10 July) and caused some concern when he received some treatment having gone to ground.

However, Rangers Review journalist Jack insists that the midfielder has not sustained any sort of injury and managed to complete the recovery session and conduct interviews without any further issues.

Speaking on The Rangers Review YouTube channel (11 July, 19:30) he said: “The only injury doubt or concern, I spoke to Joshua about yesterday was Mohamed Diomande.

“I mentioned the fact he went off and then received a bit of treatment late in the first half and then was able to walk back to the dressing room.

“He spoke to a couple of the press guys earlier on for an interview that they’ve got coming out over the next couple of games and he seemed fine. He trained and went through the recovery session earlier on so no real concerns there thankfully.”

Are Rangers close to any new signings in the summer transfer window?

While supporters will be disappointed by the lack of transfer activity around Ibrox at this moment in time, it is at least good news that one of their newer recruits won’t be missing large parts of pre-season with injury.

Diomande impressed supporters and pundits alike last season after he arrived in Glasgow last January and there will be hope that he can kick on and reach another level having made his stay in Scotland permanent.

With John Lundstram and Ryan Jack’s departures confirmed earlier this summer and only Connor Barron arriving as a replacement in midfield, the 23-year-old is going to have to play a lot of football over the next few months.

Hopefully, he will be able to stay injury-free and build on that excellent start last season to really kick on under Philippe Clement.

He, like the fans, will be hoping the Gers sign one or two more players to support him, however.

In other Rangers news, an update has emerged on the Light Blues’ current search for a new CEO to take over from James Bisgrove at Ibrox
