Journo: Rangers could be at Hampden 'longer than many people anticipate'

Rangers could be set to stay at Hampden Park “longer than many people anticipate”, according to Barry Anderson.

Writing on his personal X account (11 July), the Edinburgh Times reporter responded after it was officially confirmed that they are in “advanced talks” to rent Hampden Park for the early part of the season due to ongoing issues with the Copland Road Stand.

But a timeframe for the deal has not been announced, fuelling speculation it could go on longer than the initial five games being reported [The Sun, 10 July] and go into September.

Rangers must get Ibrox useable again as soon as possible

The fans are absolutely furious at the most recent developments at Ibrox because they are not only hurting them but also the team’s chances of success.

The team are being forced to play their first games of the season away from their iconic home ground, which will give opposition teams a chance to overcome what is usually a raucous atmosphere.

But it could also hurt them in the future with UEFA rules stating that all home group games must be played at the same ground, so if there are more delays Rangers risk being forced to stay at Hampden for certain fixtures.

Anderson’s suggestion that things may last longer than many people are expecting is worrying since it’s already taking far too long to sort out.

The club is an absolute shambles off the pitch and once again John Bennett is not winning many fans when it comes to running things. Rangers fans need and deserve more.

In other Rangers news, one club will do everything they can to stop their player from moving to Glasgow this summer.
