Club 'Refuse' to play Rangers-linked attacker after transfer request, bid update emerges with personal terms no issue - report

Rangers should have no issue agreeing personal terms with Abu Kamara but have not tabled a bid for him yet, according to Football Scotland.

The outlet reported on their website on 26 August that the club still have to shift players out before they can put forward a fee for the attacker, who has put in a transfer request at Norwich City.

The Canaries “refused” to use him against Sheffield United at the weekend but the Light Blues first need to offload the likes of Rabbi Matondo, Ianis Hagi and former Carrow Road man Todd Cantwell.

Kamara, 21, has only seen Championship action in two late substitute appearances this season, before being left out altogether against the Blades.

Abu Kamara could replace Rabbi Matondo at Rangers

The youngster did get a goal and an assist in a Carabao Cup start against Stevenage this term but doesn’t appear long for Norwich.

He spent last season on loan at Portsmouth in League One as they were promoted from the English third tier, with Kamara scoring eight league goals and recording 10 assists.

That is the sort of output the Light Blues would be interested in if he were able to translate that form to the Scottish Premiership.

He would likely be cheaper than Matondo as well who is thought to be on a “hell of a lot of money” at Ibrox, according to Ibrox News pundit Derek Ferguson.

Matondo
Rabbi Matondo could leave Rangers amid interest from Blackburn Rovers.

The Gers Welsh winger scored twice against Ross County at the weekend but has been heavily linked to an exit to Blackburn before the deadline [Scottish Sun, 23 August].

Philipe Clement predicted he would stay after the 6-0 victory at the weekend unless a big offer came in [Sky Sports, 24 August].

But with wide-man interest in Egyptian Olympic star Ibrahim Adel as well [Mohamed El Gazar, 25 August] that claim may have been an attempt to build up Matondo’s transfer value.

The club needs answers on a host of exit-linked aces within a matter of days, with Hagi also having rejected a Rapid Bucharest move [Sky Sports, 26 August], but if they manage to find some then a late Kamara move could be on the cards.
