Dan Bardell believes that the signing of Hamza Igamane doesn’t necessarily spell the end for Cyriel Dessers at Rangers.

The Gers announced the signing of the Moroccan via their official website (5 July) in a deal which was met with excitement from ex-Rangers man Kenny Miller.

This deal has been completed amid rumours of Dessers departing Ibrox as David Edgar has suggested (6 July) that the Nigerian is highly likely to leave this summer.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell doesn’t think that the new signing will force out the Light Blues’ top scorer from last season.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Bardell said: “I don’t see it as the end for Dessers necessarily.

I think Igamane is a low-risk signing and for that fee, I doubt that he is coming in as a direct replacement.

I’d argue they are getting him with a view to developing and improving him after signing for a cheap fee. I wouldn’t necessarily think that one in means another goes out for Rangers.

Rangers may replace Cyriel Dessers with Hamaza Igamane

Dessers is a player who wasn’t very highly rated by fans last season despite a positive campaign in front of goal in his debut year.

The Nigerian finished the season as Rangers’ top scorer and there was a drop-off between him and any other striker options.

With Igamane coming in, Clement must be prepared to lose a forward option otherwise there are going to be very limited minutes available to him.

Rangers Cyriel Dessers
Cyriel Dessers could leave Rangers this summer.

Igamane will take some time to acclimatise to the Scottish Premiership and Danilo will take time to find his match fitness after so long out.

With that being said, Dessers currently represents the best option as a striker for Rangers but he looks set for the Ibrox exit door in the summer window.

In other Rangers news, a player decided to seal an Ibrox exit this summer the moment he found out a British club wanted to sign him.
