Dan Bardell points out Rangers 'non-negotiable' as another Ibrox deal gets done

Dan Bardell believes the signing of Connor Barron from Aberdeen shows that Rangers are still an attractive prospect to potential new signings.

The Gers announced the signing of the 21-year-old on Thursday (20 June) after his Aberdeen contract expired this summer.

The Scotland youth international delayed the move initially to consider his options after receiving interest from England and Italy [Daily Record].

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested that this deal shows the power that Rangers still have in the transfer market.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Bardell said: “It’s definitely good for Rangers to get another signing done early.

The main thing for Rangers is that it shows that they are still an attractive prospect for players who are playing for other teams in Scotland who are developing.

They are a team this summer who need to build and sign players early before pre-season starts.

It’s positive that they’ve been able to attract someone who potentially could have gone to England or even to Europe. It is one non-negotiable that Rangers need to be able to attract young, highly-rated talent from Scotland and the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers confirm Connor Barron signing

Rangers have continued their positive start to the summer transfer window by bringing Barron in on a free from Aberdeen.

The Scotsman is highly rated which was shown by the number of sides that were interested in picking him up once his contract expired.

He joins Jefte and Clinton Nsiala as new signings at Ibrox already this month with the potential for many more additions.

With the number of outgoing players over the summer, Philippe Clement certainly has to rebuild a large portion of his squad.

The likes of Ryan Jack and John Lundstram departed at the end of their contracts, so signing Barron is a positive piece of business.

He made over 40 appearances across all competitions last season and while he only scored one goal [FotMob], that isn’t his role.

It has been a great start to the window and fans can hope Clement will secure more additions in a quick fashion before pre-season.
