Dan Bardell praises Tottenham after departures announced last week

Dan Bardell believes that Tottenham have made the right decision to release Japhet Tanganga and Ryan Sessegnon in a move that benefits all parties.

The club announced via their official website (5 June) that the English duo would be departing alongside the likes of Eric Dier and Ivan Perisic.

This may have come as a surprise to some fans who had thought that Tanganga and Sessegnon might have been offered a new deal.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell reckons that the move makes sense and will prove to benefit the players as much as the club.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Bardell said: “I think Spurs have done the right thing. Neither of them will be on low wages.

They are both decent players but at this point in their careers it’s probably good for them and good for Spurs.

Neither of them are really going to get a sniff in the first team I wouldn’t say, so I understand why they’ve made that decision.

Tottenham let Japhet Tanganga and Ryan Sessegnon go

Some fans were left somewhat surprised that Spurs had opted to let the pair go as opposed to utilising further loans away.

On the face of it, the decision was a shock but looking deeper into it, letting them go does make sense from everyone’s perspective.

Tanganga spent the second half of last season on loan with Millwall and was well-loved by players and fans for his performances which was great to see.

With that being said, the Lions only managed a midtable finish in the Championship, 14 points off of the play-off spots.

By comparison, Sessegnon was only fit enough to feature in one game under Ange Postecoglou last season – an FA Cup clash against Burnley for just seven minutes.

Tottenham, Ryan Sessegnon
Ryan Sessegnon arrived at Tottenham with high expectations

Given the potential that he had in his time with Fulham, injuries have hampered his spell at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, sadly.

It is disappointing to lose both after showing potential earlier in their Spurs careers but a clean break is best for all involved.

In other Tottenham news, Richarlison could be sold to fund a £65million transfer.
