Dan Bardell believes Tottenham could be priced out of a move for Pedro Neto after Max Kilman left Wolves to join West Ham United.
The Hammers confirmed the signing of the Englishman on Saturday (6 July) in a deal worth up to £40 million from Wolves [BBC Sport].
This could hamper a deal for Spurs who are currently “the most concrete suitor” to sign the 24-year-old this summer amid a £60 million price tag, according to GIVEMESPORT (8 July).
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Bardell said: “I think now that Wolves have sold Max Kilman, it would take an even higher fee to get Pedro Neto from Wolves.
“He’s a very good player and effective in the Premier League but Tottenham already have players like Johnson and Kulusevski in that position.
“I think a striker should be more of a priority, especially given that the transfer budget won’t be endless this summer.
“There are just more pressing areas to improve, no matter how good Neto could prove to be.“
Tottenham interested in Pedro Neto
Tottenham are interested in signing the Portuguese forward who has shone for Wolves over the years but has struggled with injury.
The 24-year-old scored two and assisted nine in the Premier League [FotMob] despite only featuring in 20 appearances due to various issues.
It has to be said that if Neto signed for Tottenham he would find plenty of competition but his versatility would make him a useful addition.
Despite this, at £60m he would represent a large outlay for a player who doesn’t necessarily have a guaranteed role under Ange Postecoglou.
Spurs should assess different options in more pressing issues in the summer transfer window before jumping in to sign the Wolves star.
