David Edgar has revealed he is a fan of what Nils Koppen has said about the Rangers recruitment process, as discussed on social media.

Edgar is chief of the Heart & Hand Podcast which posted on X [9 July] to agree with a supporter that Gers head of scouting Koppen is presenting an excellent plan for top-tier recruitment at the club, with key points listed.

The platform did however admit that the proof must be in the pudding in the near future for Rangers, who have made new signings this summer but remain plagued by chaos surrounding refurbishment delays at Ibrox – forcing them to begin their season at a temporary home ground elsewhere.

Heart & Hand posted: “All great points. Need to see people with those qualities walking through the doors soon though.”

Rangers step up recruitment under Koppen

Among Koppen’s list of points for the type of players Rangers are looking to bring in, are “robust, reliable and focused”, with the ability to “make a step up into a top five league” – as he made the case to the Rangers Fan Advisory Board [FAB].

The club are evidently aiming for a self-sustainable business model in terms of player incomings and outgoings, with a focus on selling at the right time to profit on their investments, whilst young players benefit the Light Blues during their time developing at Ibrox.

Critics have described Koppen as talking from the same playbook as any other head of recruitment, and are not yet convinced by the club’s approach.

Koppen’s chance to prove himself can come to fruition very quickly as the Scottish Premiership campaign gets underway, with the Rangers transfer task a mammoth one in what is described as a major rebuild for the club.

The club have so far made six permanent signings this summer, with considerably more expected.

In other Rangers news, Derek Ferguson has blamed Aberdeen for the bad blood surrounding compensation for Connor Barron.
