Rangers are set to announce the signing of new striker transfer Hamza Igamane, according to David Edgar.

Writing on the Heart and Hand podcast X account (22 June), the reliable insider was responding to reports that a deal has been completed for the Moroccan to move to Ibrox on a five-year deal [beIN SPORTS, 22 June].

And Edgar admitted that he has heard “rumours” that a deal will be announced on Monday for the fifth signing of the summer after Jefte, Oscar Cortes, Clinton Nsiala and Connor Barron.

Rangers gambling on young talent for 2024/25 season

There were big changes needed at Ibrox this summer with the squad being ripped apart, but Clement has given himself a big job to do on the pitch.

Experienced players like John Lundstram, Ryan Jack and Borna Barisic have been moved on at the end of their contracts, while youngsters Jefte and Connor Barron have replaced them so far directly.

With Igamane coming in for the attacking role that is likely to be created by Kemar Roofe and Sam Lammers set to leave permanently [VI, 1 June], it’s another young, unproven player taking a spot of a veteran, seasoned professional.

If the transfers work and are a success then it will be brilliant business by the Ibrox board having secured their deals for such lowly fees and with little fuss.

But there is every chance that the gambles don’t pay off and the team find themselves with a bunch of young players who aren’t quite good enough yet, with the gap to Celtic potentially increasing.

In other Rangers news, the club are set to make new Ibrox appointments in the coming days according to Chris Jack.
