Rangers now ready to sell £5k-a-wk man, new signing makes him surplus to requirements - report

Rangers are set to offload Scott Wright this summer with the right-winger deemed “surplus to requirements” in light of Oscar Cortes’ re-signing, according to Ibrox Noise.

Further additions in that position are also expected to make it untenable for Wright to continue at the club.

Wright, 26, almost left for Pendikspor last summer but his wage demands saw the deal collapse. Now, searching for a new challenge this summer, his relatively low £5,000 per week wage at Ibrox could still prove to be a stumbling block for interested SPL parties. His time at Rangers does seem over, and it looks like the club is trying to bring in better players in the squad.

Has it been a successful transfer window for Rangers so far?

Rangers have undertaken brave and calculated transfer business this summer, strengthening key areas while improving the depth of the squad. The signing of Oscar Cortes, a dynamic winger known for his pace and creativity, is likely to add flair to their attacking options.

In defence, Clinton Nsiala will bring experience, physicality, and leadership ingredients so important in firming up a leaky backline with Jefte replacing Borna Barisic at left-back.

Nsiala’s presence in the air and impressive defensive ability at positioning will be invaluable.

The midfield has been strengthened, too, with the signing of Connor Barron and the potential arrival of Hamza Igamane. Both will facilitate creativity and link-up play. Igamane offers depth and flexibility due to his versatility and tactical intelligence.

The work, in the main, done by Rangers to eradicate weaknesses while building quality into the squad is that which can make them serious contenders for the Scottish Premiership title and possibly a good run in the European competitions.
