Dele Alli was full of praise for Tottenham star James Maddison, taking to social media to compare the attacking midfielder to David Beckham.
Maddison, 27, came on as a late substitute in Spurs’ comprehensive 4-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday (November 3) to score his 50th Premier League goal with a wonderful freekick.
Despite scoring three goals and providing four assists across all competitions so far this season, Maddison is yet to complete a full 90 minutes and was dropped from the starting XI for the Villa clash.
The win takes Ange Postecoglu’s side up to seventh, two points off the Champions League spots, to help relieve some pressure on the Australian manager.

Alli, 28, has been without a club since leaving Everton on a free transfer at the end of last season but has continued to use the club’s training facilities.
The attacking midfielder spent seven years at Tottenham, scoring 67 goals and providing 58 assists in 269 appearances across all competitions before ultimately being sold on.
Clearly impressed with Maddison’s goal in Spurs’ latest win, Alli took to Instagram to compare the attacking midfielder to one of the best freekick takers the sport has ever seen.
Spurs take on Galatasaray on Thursday (November 7) in the Europa League before returning to Premier League action against Ipswich Town on Sunday (November 10).
Maddison will be hoping Lee Carsley is looking for a freekick specialist ahead of the November international break after failing to make the cut in his last two squads.
