Man City will have money available for Pep Guardiola and his transfer team to strengthen in January, sources have told Football Insider.
The Spanish boss has been open about injury concerns at the Etihad Stadium in recent days, with City losing 2-1 away at Bournemouth on Saturday (2 November).
Rodri is out for the 2024-25 campaign after suffering a serious knee injury and a stand-in for the midfielder is likely to be at the top of the priority list for transfer chiefs.
Sources say the resources are available for one or two new arrivals in the new year.
Guardiola has always preferred to introduce new players in the summer window but injuries have hit City in the first part of this season and they will need reinforcements in January.
In addition to Rodri – Kevin De Bruyne, Ruben Dias, Kyle Walker, Jack Grealish, John Stones and Oscar Bobb are among the players out with injuries at present.
Julian Alvarez was also allowed to leave the Etihad Stadium for Atletico Madrid in the summer window but was not replaced.

That has meant Erling Haaland has had to start and play most of every important game this term.
The likes of Phil Foden and James McAtee could fill in as a makeshift forward but that decision has only been taken by Guardiola in the League Cup so far this term.
City sit second in the Premier League after 10 games, two points behind leaders Liverpool.
They face Sporting CP in the Champions League on Tuesday (5 November) before taking on Brighton on Saturday (9 November).
In other news, 31-year-old could quit Man City and join title winners.
