Euro club willing to listen to offers as Rangers hold talks to sign winger - reports

Benfica are willing to listen to offers for winger Tiago Gouveia with Rangers among a host of clubs keen on signing him, according to Football Scotland.

The news outlet reported on 21 August that Villarreal and Anderlecht are also said to be interested in signing the Portuguese wide man.

The 23-year-old actually featured against Gers last season in the Europa League where he came off the bench in both legs.

Portuguese journalist Bruno Andrade claimed on 19 August that Gers were among a host of clubs in talks with Benfica over a potential transfer.

Tiago Gouveia would add much-needed quality in the Rangers attack

Gouveia’s potential acquisition by Gers could significantly enhance their attacking options, especially in light of Abdallah Sima’s move to Stade Brestois 29.

At 23, the Lisbon-born attacker offers a blend of youth and experience, having featured in European competitions, which aligns well with the Ibrox outfit’s ambitions in both domestic and continental football.

His familiarity with the Europa League could be beneficial, providing immediate adaptation to the competition’s demands.

Gouveia’s style as a winger brings dynamism and versatility to the squad.

His ability to play on either flank or even centrally could provide tactical flexibility, something Philippe Clement might value in adapting his tactics.

With Sima no longer an option, Gouveia steps in as a player who can deliver both goals and assists, potentially filling the creative void left by the Senegal international’s exit.

In other Rangers news, an Ibrox-linked midfielder is set for a loan move and Gers’ bid is already on the table.
