Everton backroom staff have been in a “buoyant” mood recently due to the way the team has been brought together behind the scenes.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson revealed he spoke to some of the staff who praised the “togetherness” that exists at Goodison Park.

It has been a tough start to the season for the Merseyside club, who currently find themselves 19th in the Premier League table.

Sean Dyche has been unable to guide Everton to a win yet this season, having watched his team throw away two-goal leads twice in the process.

It has led to increasing pressure on the Everton boss to turn things around and start picking up results to maintain his job at Goodison Park.

The club is undergoing change in the background too as the Friedkin Group prepare to take over, but Dyche has been praised for his ability to stay focused amid the chaos.

“It’s unsettling but I think it’s something that Everton have had to deal with for a long time now,” Robinson told Football Insider about the latest takeover news.

“I spoke to a lot of the Everton backroom staff before the Aston Villa game and they were buoyant about the way that the mood was in the camp, the training ground, the way that the manager had got the team together.

“There was a togetherness amongst the team and they were praising the manager and what he’d been able to do as in keep the football side of things away from what was happening in the boardroom which is always difficult.

“I played for a Leeds side and the time, you know, the worst time when the financial case hit Leeds with Peter Ridsdale and the fire sale that happened at Leeds and the money that the club owed and the financial problems that Leeds had.

“So listen, I’m no stranger to that and it does come into the dressing room, we were in a lot worse state than Everton are, we were deferring wages and people weren’t getting paid and getting sacked.

“But it’s just gone on too long for Everton and Everton fans, but that’s one thing that Sean Dyche has actually done is keep the football side away from the dressing as much as he can.

“But you don’t escape it as a player.”
