Exclusive: Aston Villa attacker close to joining new club after 'Huge' offer

Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran is in advanced talks to join West Ham in a deal worth £35million, sources have told Football Insider.

The striker, 20, has agreed personal terms and is keen to move to the London Stadium after being offered a “huge” pay rise.

While the deal is not done yet, negotiations between the two clubs are continuing over the fee involved and a full agreement is now close.

This comes after Football Insider revealed that the Hammers are working hard to sign the 20-year-old after he became frustrated with his playing time at Villa Park.

Julen Lopetegui’s side have now moved ahead of the competition for his signature and are aiming to reach a full agreement for his transfer in the coming days.

Duran has endured a mixed spell at Aston Villa since making the £18million move from MLS outfit Chicago Fire in January 2023.

He has scored eight goals across 49 appearances for Villa, with all eight of those goals coming last season, and has struggled for first-team football.

Last time out, the Colombian featured 37 times, although he started just ten games as he failed to compete with the form of Ollie Watkins.

West Ham, meanwhile, were the lowest-scoring team in the top half of the Premier League and are desperate to improve their firepower.

A striker emerged as the number one priority this summer, and they now appear to have beaten rival interest to close in on Duran’s signature.

The arrival of new boss Lopetegui has been met with plenty of backing in the transfer market, and the spending is set to continue after the Hammers paid a combined £65.5million on Max Kilman and Luis Guilherme.

Duran has been vocal about his desire to leave Aston Villa this summer, leaving supporters fuming at his conduct after his latest interview.
