Exclusive: Chelsea have agreed cut-price sponsorship deal

Chelsea have agreed a much lower sleeve sponsorship deal than the agreement they had in place two seasons ago, sources have told Football Insider.

Chelsea announced ahead of their opening-day clash against Manchester City on 18 August they have signed a deal with Fever.

The entertainment discovery platform’s logo will feature on the men, women and academy players’ kits for the upcoming campaign.

Sources have told Football Insider the Fever deal is believed to be worth between £6-8million, with some potential bonuses included if the west London club qualifies for the Champions League.

But that is significantly less than the £20million-a-year sleeve sponsorship deal Chelsea signed in 2022 with WhaleFin before the crypto company terminated the deal midway through the 2022-23 season.

It’s also lower than the £10million sleeve deal the Premier League side agreed with BingX in January this year, clearly displaying the difficulties of landing lucrative sponsorships without having Champions League football.

Chelsea still have to resolve shirt sponsor issue

Chelsea have had their fair share of sponsorship issues since BlueCo took over the club in May 2022.

The London giants have started the new season without a front-of-shirt sponsorship deal for the second consecutive campaign after their deal with Infinite Athlete expired.

In September last year – two months into the season – Chelsea struck a £40million per season deal with the US-based sports data company.

But Infinite Athlete will not be continuing its shirt sponsorship this campaign despite featuring on the club’s jerseys throughout pre-season, leaving Stamford Bridge chiefs searching around for a new deal.

Football Insider revealed on 16 August failing to land a front-of-shirt sponsorship deal and missing out on Champions League football is likely to leave a hole of more than £100million in Chelsea’s accounts this season.
