Exclusive: Wolves plot raid for QPR star

Wolves are plotting a move for Queens Park Rangers star Jake Clarke-Salter after losing Max Kilman, sources have told Football Insider.

West Ham signed Kilman for a reported fee of £40million on Saturday (6 July).

Clarke-Salter is a player Wolves admire as they target a replacement for their captain in the remainder of the summer window.

It is believed the Midlands club watched the centre-back on multiple occasions in the 2023-24 campaign and are now lining up a move.

The 26-year-old is one of several names on the list at Molineux and Queens Park Rangers are bracing for offers in the coming days and weeks.

Clarke-Salter has two years left to run on his contract at Loftus Road after joining the London club from Chelsea in 2022.

Wolves keen on Clarke-Salter after Kilman exit

He made 33 appearances across all competitions for QPR last term, starting in 29 of those outings.

The centre-back, who won the Under-20 World Cup with England as a youth, has also experienced senior football with loans at Coventry, Birmingham, Vitesse, Sunderland and Bristol Rovers.

Football Insider revealed earlier this year that Celtic, Crystal Palace, Burnley and Bournemouth are all keen on Clarke-Salter.

Wolves made Kilman their new captain last summer (2023) but he has chosen to reunite with Julen Lopetegui at West Ham.

Gary O’Neil’s side finished 14th in the 2023-24 campaign.
