John Textor takeover news at Everton is due to emerge within the next few days, according to Alan Myers.
The Sky Sports journalist responded to a supporter via X on 22 September explaining he expects an update soon on the American’s bid to buy out Farhad Moshiri at Goodison Park.
Myers himself reported on 19 September that a deal between Textor and Moshiri was now on the cards “very soon”, which would then kick off other processes such as selling his Crystal Palace shares and gaining Premier League approval for his Toffees move.
In the latest update Myers wrote: “I would expect some news in the next few days but what, I don’t know.”
Dan Friedkin interest re-emerges at Everton
There are numerous barriers currently in the way of Textor a full takeover completed, not least his attachment to Palace, but he seems to deem the agreement with Moshiri as the priority and the rest of the issues can be addressed from there.
Whether or not Dan Friedkin’s reportedly reignited interest in a deal [Bloomberg, 16 September] has sparked Textor into speeding the process up is unclear.
The Roma chief backed out of his own deal during July but has remained in the picture since thanks to his £200million loan, and Friedkin Group sources have indicated to i News (17 September) that he is not in fact returning to the negotiating table.
Since the other American deemed the financial complications and responsibilities too risky to move forward two months ago [The Esk, 20 July] there will be doubts around Textor’s ability to do so given he hasn’t even been allowed to see the full picture of what he is dealing with.
Premier League rules dictate that nobody can own two clubs at once so his 45 per cent share at Selhurst Park means total insight at Goodison is not yet allowed.
The sooner he gets rid of his Palace holding, which he has two “firm” bids for [Sky News, 26 August], the quicker he can get a handle on whether he can or can’t proceed, because there have been four before him who have got this far and failed.
In other Everton news, a Toffees player has already “given his yes” to a club and is expected to resume talks in the summer.
