Fabrizio Romano says 'unbelievable' Arsenal player has now agreed terms to leave the club

After welcoming Riccardo Calafiori to north London, it seems as if Arsenal are really ramping up their summer transfer plans.

Understandably so, Edu and Mikel Arteta’s attempts to improve this Arsenal squad were delayed by the Euros and Copa America.

Calafiori was busy starring for Italy at the tournament whilst Arsenal’s team were at home attempting to progress with a deal.

Similarly, Arsenal are now close to signing Mikel Merino, another player who will have been fully focused on matters at the Euros.

That being said, in order to keep the ball rolling in terms of players arriving at Arsenal, Edu and his team do need to sell first.

That’s the club’s policy this summer, something akin to a one in, one out policy.

It seems as if Emile Smith Rowe is making way for Mikel Merino, and perhaps the likes of Jakub Kiwior could still depart on the basis of Calafiori arriving.

And with news of Marseille agreeing personal terms with Eddie Nketiah, it’s worth considering which new forward may arrive.

Eddie Nketiah is now just one step away from leaving Arsenal for Marseille

Of course, Nkeitah agreeing a contract with Marseille is the latest update from Fabrizio Romano on X.

The journalist just shared a post explaining that ‘unbelievable‘ Nketiah and the French side had agreed personal terms, and the deal now hinged on Marseille agreeing a fee with Arsenal.

Romano said: “Eddie Nketiah and Olympique Marseille have reached an agreement on personal terms.

“It all depends on the clubs, deal not close yet with Arsenal — but negotiations continue.”

As stated, if Arsenal are to agree a deal for Nketiah to leave his boyhood club in north London this summer, he must be making way for a new arrival.

Reiss Nelson has also signalled his intention to leave Arsenal, meaning Arteta would look a little short in attacking areas were no one to arrive.

And with news that Nico Williams won’t join Arsenal this summer, it remains to be seen who the club will swivel their attention too.

Perhaps Arsenal’s perfect signing is already in the Premier League, someone who Unai Emery has helped find consistency in recent years.

Either way, Nketiah potentially leaving Arsenal will be significant – another signal towards a new era.
