Fabrizio Romano shares transfer update as Everton eye international full-back

Everton have not held talks over a deal to sign Jackson Tchatchoua from Verona this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer specialist reported via X on 12 July that despite links to the Cameroon international there have been no negotiations over signing him.

His update comes as the Toffees have entered negotiations to bring Denmark winger Jesper Lindstrøm in from Napoli who is said to be the club’s new “top target”.

Tutto Mercato Web reported on 3 July that Everton had set their sights on a move for the 22-year-old whose asking price has jumped after only completing a permanent move to Italy earlier this summer.

Everton want Jesper Lindstrøm amid Jaden Philogene drama

Talks for Lindstrøm have emerged out of what looks like the final days of the race for Jaden Philogene from Hull City as attacking reinforcements appear a priority at Goodison Park currently.

But Tchatchoua doesn’t look to be a direct alternative to the Dane as although he can play on the wing he spent most of last season at right-back in Serie A.

Ashley Young may have signed a one-year extension this summer but just turned 39 and the Cameroonian may be seen as an eventual replacement for the former England international.

Seamus Coleman has signed his own new deal but unless Nathan Patterson’s fortunes improve hugely under Sean Dyche it would be no shock for a younger target to be sought at the position.

Everton have not entered into talks for Verona’s Jackson Tchatchoua.

For now though the focus certainly looks to be in more advanced areas despite the two additions of Iliman Ndiaye and Jack Harrison already.

Should Lindstrom and potentially a fit-again Dele Alli be added to the squad it would give the manager a reasonably strong set of options to support a central striker, in addition to Dwight McNeil and Abdoulaye Doucouré.

But with Dominic Calvert-Lewin now seemingly on the way out it will surely require the right replacement to be signed up front to prevent the attack taking a step backwards and there may be doubts that Armando Broja is that man.

In other Everton news, a club are ready to take the matter to a tribunal with the Toffees linked to one of their prized assets.
