Finance Expert: Everton may owe PL rivals money as transfer claim emerges

Stefan Borson claims that it may trigger money owed to Tottenham if Everton are to offer Dele Alli a new contract.

The finance expert explained on 8 July that there could be a clause that saws the Toffees will have to pay a certain amount to the North London club if he signs a new contract or an extension.

This comes after the Express reported on 3 July that the 28-year-old is training at the Merseyside club as he looks for a new side in this transfer window.

Via Twitter, Borson wrote, with the letters denoting the clubs: “Yes – can well imagine a clause that says ‘E will pay TH, an additional payment of £x, in the event that Dele Alli signs any new contract or extension with E’.”

Everton must not re-sign Dele Alli this summer

The Toffees should not re-sign Alli this summer due to potential financial implications and his underwhelming performance since joining the club.

If they offer the England international a new contract, they may owe Tottenham a significant sum, as suggested.

This additional payment could strain the club’s already tight financial situation, especially considering their recent struggles with financial fair play regulations.

Moreover, Alli’s performance since joining has been far from impressive and he’s had numerous injury concerns.

Re-signing him would not only be a financial burden but also a risk in terms of on-field contribution.

The club should focus on bringing in players who can make an immediate impact and help the club climb up the table, rather than taking a gamble on Alli’s potential resurgence.

In other Everton news, the club have submitted an offer to sign an international striker after the announcement of Iliman Ndiaye.
