Everton have hired Nolan Partners in their search for a new CEO in the Dan Friedkin era, The Athletic reports.
According to the outlet’s website on 8 November the “renowned” recruitment firm have already spoken to various candidates to assume the role once the American takes over the club from Farhad Moshiri.
Colin Chong is currently in place as interim chief executive but his construction background has seen his work focused on the new stadium project, although it is possible he will be kept on in some capacity.
Ex-Roma chief executive Lina Souloukou and Fulham’s Alistair Mackintosh have both been approached about the key Toffees role.
However, the former is said to be taking time out of football after resigning from Friedkin’s Serie A side during the fallout from Daniele de Rossi’s sacking, and the latter is thought settled at Craven Cottage, so new names are expected to come into the frame.
Everton likely to replace Colin Chong after takeover
It had been speculated in Italy that Souloukou was in line for the top job at Everton [Corriere dello Sport, 18 October] after her exit from the Stadio Olimpico, but it appears that experience will take longer for her to get over.
Getting the right people in place to govern the club on a day-to-day basis is going to be one of the most crucial tasks for the new ownership to get right.
Moshiri’s appointments, at least prior to the interim board that has now be in place far longer than planned, oversaw a gradual decent into chaos and had a broken relationship with the fanbase.
There will understandably be high hopes for a new start under Friedkin after the turmoil that has characterised the latter Moshiri years.
But they will have to be tempered slightly by the memory that the current majority shareholder himself arrived to some optimism before things turned sour, and the incoming Friedkin Group are arguably experiencing their most rocky period in charge of Roma at present.
A new owner, a new stadium, and potentially a new manager and an overhauled squad by next season, could give the club a great springboard to consign the misery of the past few seasons to memory, but a capable hierarchy has to be in place to oversee it all.
In other Everton news, a key backroom staff member who rose to national prominence has left the club.
