Jamie O’Hara believes an Everton fan was being too “harsh” on Sean Dyche’s side after rating their season 2/10 so far.

The Toffees are sitting just two points above the relegation zone after a dreadful start to the Premier League season was put right with three consecutive matches without a defeat.

Dyche came under heavy fire following back-to-back 3-2 losses against Bournemouth and Aston Villa but finally seems to have steadied the ship with five points in the last three games.

Speaking live via talkSPORT on Tuesday (8 October, 11:12pm), O’Hara said: “Everton are a weird one for me. You get some really good chances, go 2-0 up and lose, then you go 2-0 up again and get beaten.

“Then you put in a good performance, then play Newcastle and draw. You look alright so I don’t know what to expect from Everton.”

After a fan was asked to rate the Toffees’ season so far, and brandished a 2/10 rating, O’Hara said: “I feel like that’s harsh,” with Cundy disagreeing: “I think two is fair. I’ve written down two.”

Everton move forward in Premier League under Sean Dyche

With upcoming fixtures against Ipswich, Fulham, Southampton and West Ham, the Toffees certainly have an opportunity to rise the Premier League table quite quickly.

After four games, it was all doom and gloom as Dyche’s side sat bottom of the table with zero points, being heavily criticised for the losses to Brighton, Tottenham, Bournemouth and Villa.

Of course, that criticism was thoroughly deserved as the team continued to leak goals at a rapid pace, too quick to plug the holes with goals at the other end.

Even despite Jarrad Branthwaite’s absence against Newcastle, however, the Toffees were still able to keep a clean sheet and put another important point on the board before the international break.

The 2-1 win over Crystal Palace was the real turnaround, with Dwight McNeil earning a comparison to Lionel Messi for his incredible brace at Goodison Park.

Now, they just need to keep the momentum and push forward, focusing on the positives rather than looking behind them.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are set to make a “heavyweight” appointment after takeover as new names emerge.
