'Here we go': Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal are now set to sign 'one of the best' players in the world

Arsenal have been incredibly busy on transfer deadline day, and now it looks like they’ve got the player they’ve been after throughout the course of the day.

The Gunners have been in talks with Chelsea over Raheem Sterling, with updates coming in thick and fast over the course of Friday evening.

Things have been progressing in the right direction and, at 11:13pm BST, Fabrizio Romano dropped the update Arsenal fans will have been waiting for.

Namely, the “here we go” for Sterling to the Emirates Stadium.

Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal have reached Raheem Sterling agreement

Romano reported that the Gunners have reached agreement on the England international’s loan move from Chelsea.

The Blues accepted Arsenal’s final conditions, added the transfer insider, while the player himself was keen on the move and also spoke to Mikel Arteta.

“Agreement done, documents expected to be ok soon,” added Romano.

Arsenal set to sign ‘one of the best wingers in the world’

Sterling looks set to be a great signing for the Gunners, as he is a world-class winger with considerable experience at Premier League level, not to mention Champions League and internationally.

Arsenal have been looking to bolster their attacking ranks and, with Reiss Nelson also expected to leave the Gunners on loan, it’ll free up a slot in their squad which Sterling could be set to fill.

The 82-cap England international can play on the left flank, offer competition and cover for Bukayo Saka on the right and even play up front if needed.

Back in 2019, his captain at Manchester City, Vincent Kompany, described him as one of the best players in the world.

“It’s incredible because his first year at City was tough, and then from the moment Pep [Guardiola] came in he just kicked on and went from strength to strength,” Sky Sports quoted Kompany as saying.

“For me, he is one of the best wingers in the world. He’s so important for us. To have the ability to unlock defences when they defend with so many bodies is the sign of a top, top, top player.”
