'He's worked so hard': Michael Keane says Everton players are all 'buzzing' for one man after Fulham draw

Everton left it late to rescue a draw against Fulham this afternoon as big-money signing Beto levelled with a fine header close to the death.

Beto has struggled massively since signing for the Toffees and has yet to hit double figures in terms of goals scored.

However, his header against Fulham today looks like being a start as he registered his first Premier League goal of the season and fourth overall.

For Beto, a goal in the top flight will feel massive for him and it comes after plenty of work off the field to get back up to speed.

Indeed, one Everton man who knows what it’s like to fall out of favour is defender, Michael Keane. And according to Keane, everyone at Goodison will be delighted for Beto.

Michael Keane shares what Everton players think of Beto

Speaking to the BBC immediately after Beto rescued the 1-1 draw for Everton, reliable defender Keane admitted that he knows just how the striker will have been feeling.

“Everyone will be buzzing for him. He’s worked so hard and he had to be patient this season,” Keane said.

“I know what it’s like sitting on the bench, it was me last season. When you get your chance you have to take it, and that’s what he’s done this evening.”

Beto has to kick on to dislodge Calvert-Lewin

Everton have had problems with their central striker for some time now and with Dominic Calvert-Lewin struggling with injury problems, Beto hasn’t took his chance.

However, this now feels like a bit of a turning point for a striker who Sean Dyche clearly wants to do well.

Over a full Premier League season, clubs need more than one striker to contribute and if Everton can get Beto, Calvert-Lewin, and the impressive Iliman Ndiaye to score goals, they’ll be just fine.

Beto, then, now has to prove it’s not a one off and look to really challenge Calvert-Lewin for that number one striker spot.
