Ibrox View: Clement quite simply must start Rangers new man v Dundee United

Rangers fans will be looking towards new signing Nedim Bajrami for inspiration when they return to Premiership action at Dundee United.

Philippe Clement’s side will be looking to respond to their 3-0 loss to Celtic before the international break, and picking Deadline Day arrival Bajrami from the start would be one way to do this.

A £3.3million Deadline Day signing was always likely to attract headlines for Bajrami, and the nature of his transfer – and the position he plays – will have whetted the appetites of Gers fans.

Nedim Bajrami debut would be popular move for Rangers fans

Answering the question of the number 10 role at Ibrox was one of the themes of the transfer window this summer, with no clear stand-out existing within the squad before Bajrami’s arrival was sealed.

Philippe Clement has some big decisions to make regarding his starting XI to face Dundee United

Todd Cantwell, often used in attacking midfield last season, was dropped to the reserves after handing in a transfer request, and his departure was confirmed just hours before Bajrami headed the other way.

That leaves Bajrami as potentially Clement’s key player going forward for the rest of the season and beyond, and as such fans will be hoping that he can hit the ground running at Tannadice this weekend.

It’s still too early to give the Albanian international that lofty billing, but if Clement does put his faith in Bajrami to face Dundee United, he could be about to truly kick-start Rangers’ ailing season.

Rangers need something this coming weekend, and introducing a not-fit Bajrami into the mix will be a big way about going about achieving exactly that.
