Ibrox View: EA have done Rangers star dirty with downgrade despite brilliant form

EA have done Cyriel Dessers dirty by giving the Rangers forward a downgrade to his latest FC 25 card despite him scoring 22 goals last season.

The new EA Sports FC game is set to be released at the end of the month, and the club has posted the ratings of several players on their social media platforms, with Dessers one of the players that fans seem most unhappy about.

Despite his goals last season – plus the fact he has five in seven appearances this term – the striker has received a downgrade to a 73 rating, from his previous 75 rating [FUTBIN], which seems harsh considering his goal-scoring prowess for the Glasgow club.

Are EA telling us something?

There was plenty of speculation over the summer that Rangers boss Phillipe Clement was open to signing a new striker, with Tommy Conway being a reported target for the Belgian before his move to Middlesbrough [Sky Sports].

Cyriel Dessers has been scoring for fun.

That being said, Dessers has not let the negativity surrounding his stay in Scotland affect his form and has bagged three goals in four Scottish Premiership games this season.

The Nigerian clearly knows where the back of the net is, but EA feels he’s not worthy of a gold card on their game. Maybe that’s been something to do with the speculation that’s lingered about Dessers and Rangers signing a new striker to replace him?

One name that continues to pop up is Hearts forward Lawrence Shankland, who won the SPFL Golden Boot last season, ahead of both Dessers and Rangers captain James Tavernier.

He’d definitely be a welcome replacement at Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, a new CEO could be appointed soon.
